What to expect
What to Expect During Craniosacral Therapy – Holistic Health Wisdom
Preparing for Your Session

Complimentary Consultation
Before your first visit, we recommend a 10–15 minute phone call to answer any questions you may have and help you feel comfortable.
Health Considerations
Please let your practitioner know if you are pregnant, currently sick with an upper respiratory infection, have increased cranial pressure, a major head injury, any injuries or areas you wish to avoid, a genetic malformation, or if you’ve been in a car accident within the past 72 hours.
Comfort & Hydration
Dress in comfortable clothing and stay well-hydrated before and after your session.
Transportation
For your first couple of sessions, you may wish to have someone drive you to and from your appointment.
During Your Session

Session Length
Each session lasts about 75 minutes.
What to Expect
You’ll lie comfortably on your back, fully clothed. If you’re pregnant or unable to lie flat for that long, we’ll adjust your position to ensure your comfort.
Gentle Touch
Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is very gentle — the most pressure you’ll feel is about the weight of a nickel!
Areas of Focus
Your practitioner may work along your entire spine, as well as on areas such as your lower back, abdomen, shoulders, joints, neck, and head — depending on your individual needs.
Relaxation
Many people find the experience deeply relaxing and even drift off to sleep during their session.
Possible Sensations
You may notice gentle pulsations (blood flow improving), muscle relaxation, easier breathing, or a sense of wave-like movement through your body as circulation and spinal fluid flow improve. Others simply feel calm and peaceful — both responses are normal.
After Your Session

Common Feelings
It’s normal to feel “spacey,” “floaty,” or “lighter” afterward. This is a good sign — it means your body has opened up beautifully and your spinal fluid flow is adjusting. The sensation usually fades within 30–60 minutes.
→ Because of this, we recommend arranging a ride home after your first one or two sessions.
Hydrate
Drink plenty of filtered water, ideally with trace minerals or electrolytes.
Rest
Listen to your body — if you feel the need to rest afterward, allow yourself that time.
Nourish Well
Avoid inflammatory foods such as fast food, sugary snacks, fried foods, and very heavy or high-fat meals after your session.
Follow-Up
Your practitioner will suggest when to schedule your next visit based on your body’s needs.
→ For best results, we recommend beginning with a series of three sessions, spaced about one to two weeks apart.
Holistic care
Gentle, holistic care grounded in science and compassion.
